The Challenges of
HOLY SPIRIT CATHOLIC CHURCH

Holy Spirit Church strives to be a praying, loving and serving community that continues the mission of Jesus Christ. Jesus' living presence is acknowledged through the active worship, community life and outreach of its members.

With its 217 families, the Parish reaches out to others through a variety of community services and through a variety of ecumenical endeavors. Holy Spirit is a member of the Hernando Interfaith Council on Poverty whose members consist of area churches to work together to serve the needy poor of our community. Through Dress-a-Child, one of the projects of lnter-faith, Holy Spirit helps dress needy children for their first day of school. At Thanksgiving, needy elderly households are given food baskets to help them through the holidays. At Christmas time as many as 150 needy families in the Hernando area are assisted.

Holy Spirit continues to provide for the development of ministries through creative programs of parish formation for both adults and children.  Holy Spirit's facilities are used for the daily lunch program and other community programs. Summer Bible School and Parish Socials are some of the many activities at Holy Spirit. The Religious Education Building also serves as one of the local ministry training sites for the Diocese and the Sacred Heart Southern Missions . On the grounds the Catholic Social Services offices and the Sacred Heart Southern Missions Thrift Store share a building to assist needy families.

Holy Spirit Church seeks to call people together from different backgrounds and family settings to gather, listen and respond to the Lord. Its goals include motivating the parish to communicate and work together as a team so as to deepen our conversion and commitment to Christ and to his healing mission of love. As one community, Holy Spirit serves people with the conviction that this is how the Kingdom of God is built.
